The course provides an extensive  guide to Microservice Architecture (MSA), explaining it as an implementation methodology for Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) where large applications are broken down into small, independent, loosely coupled service units. It details the advantages and disadvantages of MSA, such as its focus on single business tasks and its higher costs compared to monolithic applications, and contrasts it with SOA regarding dependency, size, and technology stack. Furthermore, the text explores different scaling methodologies (X-Axis, Y-Axis, and Z-Axis), outlines the blueprint and workflow principles for microservice development, and categorises various “as a Service” models (PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, DaaS, BaaS). Finally, it discusses several composition patterns (Aggregator, Proxy, Chained, Branch, and Shared Resource) and provides hands-on examples for building and decomposing both SOA and MSA applications.
