1.0 Purpose and Scope
Standardized Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) testing is a cornerstone of modern microcircuit reliability and quality assurance. This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) provides a detailed, systematic methodology for conducting Machine Model (MM) ESD testing. Its purpose is to ensure the generation of reliable and repeatable test results, enabling the accurate classification of a microcircuit’s ESD sensitivity in direct accordance with the requirements of Test Method A115-A.
This document establishes the standard procedure for testing and classifying microcircuits based on their susceptibility to damage or degradation resulting from exposure to MM ESD events.
Adherence to this procedure is mandatory for all personnel involved in MM ESD testing. Following these steps consistently is essential for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and comparability of all test data generated.
