7.0 Criteria for Acceptance
The acceptance criteria serve as the definitive benchmarks for judging the equipment’s performance during and after exposure to simulated electrostatic discharges. These criteria provide a clear pass/fail threshold, translating the technical test results into a formal statement of compliance with the standard.
The two primary criteria for acceptance are as follows:
- During the test: No incorrect operation shall occur. It is explicitly noted that transient false information given by indicating devices, such as light emitting diodes (LEDs), shall be tolerated.
- After the test: The equipment under test shall continue to comply with the relevant performance specification.
These acceptance criteria are the final arbiters in validating the electromagnetic compatibility and operational reliability of measuring relays and protection equipment when faced with the common environmental stress of electrostatic discharge.
